Paul Secker gave an update on the Insurance Proposal.
Luxemburg Chamber should consider a motion to adopt a memorandum for
Network Health Plan of Menasha, WI, per letter dated January 18, 2008.Whereas
the Luxemburg Chamber of Commerce endorse Network Health Plan exclusively as
the preferred group health insurer for members, in exchange for Network Health
Plan agreeing to provide preferred rates and discount where applicable.
This memorandum or relationship does not cost the chamber anything, nor
does the chamber sell the insurance. It
simply states, that we endorse their plan, and members are able to make any
choice they want for health insurance, which may include pursuing a quote for
coverage under this plan. Presently,
I understand that in Luxemburg, a few businesses have joined other area
chambers exclusively to receive the benefit of the discount related to this
endorsement. Further, we do have
two Business Members of the Luxemburg Chamber who can off this insurance: Bob
Van Drisse at Van Drisse Insurance and Karen Smith at Green Bay Insurance
Center. Motion was carried
Luxemburg Chamber made a motion to adopt a limitation on the
Geographic area of Northeast Wisconsin. Recently, we have had a company from
New York requesting to join the chamber, so they can get listed on our web
site and earn business. Due to
the goal of the chamber is to promote local business, the majority of the
board supports a proposal to limit membership to NE Wisconsin – Kewaunee,
Door and Brown County. General
discussion was the proposal is referred to the Luxemburg Chamber Board for the
final decision.
Gift certificates are available from the Chamber, which can
be used at participating Chamber Businesses. If you are a merchant that

Paul Secker gave update on Insurance Proposal.
Luxemburg Chamber should consider a motion to adopt a memorandum from
Network Health Plan of Menasha WI, per the letter dated January 18, 2008,
which was tabled at the February 26, 2008 chamber meeting. The letter was originally brought to Paul Secker’s
attention in late 2007. Whereas
the Luxemburg Chamber of Commerce agrees to endorse Network Health Plan
exclusively as the preferred group health insurer for members, in exchange for
Network Health Plan agreeing to provide preferred rates and discounts where
applicable. This memorandum or relationship does not cost the chamber
anything, nor does the chamber sell the insurance. It simply
states, that we endorse their plan, and members are able to make any choice
they want for health insurance, which may include pursuing a quote for
coverage under this plan. Presently, I understand that in Luxemburg, a
few businesses have joined other area chambers exclusively to receive the
benefit of the discount related to this endorsement. Further, we do have
members who are capable of offering this insurance to members. This proposal
is supported by both PS & TT (Other board members have not weighed in on
this topic as of yet). Two
Business Members of the Luxemburg Chamber can offer this insurance: Bob
VanDrisse at VanDrisse Insurance and Karen at Green Bay Insurance Center.
Motion was made by Glen Rueckl, and seconded by Chris Warber, motion carried.
Geographic Membership Limitation Proposal
Consider a motion to adopt a geographic limitation on the membership for the
Luxemburg Chamber of Commerce to Northeast Wisconsin area, which should
included Kewaunee, Door, and Brown County businesses. Recently, we have
had a company from New York requesting to join our chamber, so they can get
listed on our web site and earn business. Due to the goal of the chamber
is to promote local business, the majority of the board supports a proposal to
limit membership to NE WI - Kewaunee, Door, and Brown Cty membership.
GENERAL DISCUSSION WAS THE PROPOSAL IS REFERED TO THE LUXEMBURG CHAMBER
BOARD FOR FINAL DECISION.
Our Second Guest speaker was Mike Kinnard from Infinity Technologies. Mike
gave a presentation on the importance of a business having a web site. He
